If you have a shelf of books then you probably have book gnomes living somewhere in there. These tiny creatures love books, though perhaps it would be more precise to say that they love the care and maintenance of books. For goodness’ sake don’t dog ear a page or crack a book’s spine if there are book gnomes around - you will find yourself at the receiving end of a very disapproving glare!
